Product Description
Detailed Specifications & Features

The core differences between 304 and 316L square tubes lie in corrosion resistance. 316L has a longer service life in harsh environments due to the addition of molybdenum, while 304 is a highly cost-effective general-purpose material.
Difference in corrosion resistance: The pitting resistance equivalent (PRE ≈ 24–26) of 316L is much higher than that of 304 (PRE ≈ 18–20), enabling it to resist chloride ion corrosion in environments such as seawater and salt spray. In contrast, 304 is prone to rusting in coastal or industrial-polluted areas.
Difference in heat resistance and strength: 304 can be used for a long time within a temperature range of approximately -196°C to 800°C. Due to its lower carbon content, 316L has relatively lower strength at high temperatures (>425°C), but the two have similar room-temperature strength (tensile strength ≥ 485–520 MPa).
Difference in processing and weldability: 304 features mature and stable welding processes. With an extremely low carbon content, 316L avoids intergranular corrosion without annealing after welding, making it more suitable for thick plate welding.
Non-magnetism: Both may develop weak magnetism after cold working, which can be eliminated through annealing treatment.
For applications in highly corrosive environments such as coastal areas and chemical plants, or for food and pharmaceutical equipment → select 316L square tubes, with higher investment to ensure operational reliability.
For ordinary structural components or decorative purposes in inland dry environments → select 304 square tubes for optimal cost performance.
Choose 316L for priority corrosion resistance, and 304 for cost control. For outdoor
